Abstract :
The use of energy and its production has caused pollution, environmental warming and imposing heavy financial burden. The solutions in the field of electrical energy are divided into hard and soft. Hard solutions look at physical construction and changes in traditional technologies to optimize consumption. Among these methods are the use of renewable energies, replacement of high-consumption devices, and correction of energy transmission losses. Soft methods are divided based on the management of energy consumption through the adoption of incentive and punitive policies in energy consumption and changing the traditional model of providing energy into service. This paper employs a soft solution approach according to data analysis. It shows that directing the consumption of a small group of citizens around 10% will result in reducing the need to build electric power plants. This research is based on the electricity consumption data of Fardis Karaj city from 2011 to 2016 and it shows that a 10% reduction in the electrical energy consumption of a part of the citizens in this city can be equivalent to more than the capacity of three power plants with capacities of 16, 15 and 18 megawatts that were built in 2021 in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
