Abstract :
Reversible logic is an important and necessary area in circuit design because circuits that are designed to be reversible have zero energy consumption. Multipliers are one of the most basic units for processors. Among mathematical multiplications, multiplication Vedic has been considered due to their high speed and low power. Three novel reversible blocks are proposed in this article. Then, the proposed blocks are used to develop a novel effective 2-bit reversible Vedic multiplier (VM). The proposed design is assessed in terms of criteria including quantum cost (QC), garbage outputs (GO), constant inputs (CI), and gate count (GC). The results of the comparison show that the presented designs are very close to the previous designs in terms of the number of CI and GO, but outperform the previous designs in terms of GC and QC.
